20.18, 2019
'20.18' is Teodora’s second collection. It was presented as part of the aw 2019/20 Fashion Weekend Skopje, at the National Rail station in Skopje inside the Yugoslavian president, Josip Broz Tito’s personal train and was sponsored by Arthur’s Shoes (the Macedonian representative for Dr Martens).
The collection, once again aims to fight gender norms within fashion, featuring highly masculine versions of traditional ‘female’ garments. This time Teodora chose to present it on male models, but that is not suggest that it is a gendered collection.
The inspiration behind it is very personal and it is dedicated to Teodora’s grandfathers, who passed away in the space of a couple of months in late 2018. As both provided her with great support and unconditional love, she wanted to dedicate her new work to them. While the collection echoes aspects of their lives, it does not, by any means, grasp the full complexity of their fascinating characters. It shifts away from them as individuals by focusing only on two main elements: fishing and Yugoslavian military uniforms.
In true fashion of the brand the collection holds a dark undertone, aiming to create androgynous out-worldly warriors. It is heavily playing with ‘gendered’ garments and masculinity, as well as, exploring new textile techniques and unconventional materials.
